:::	Due to the lack of natural resources in Taiwan island.The ocean exploitation becomes an important and effective measure for the economical development in Taiwan. For the pursuit of this goal of economical development, it is necessary to promote the maritime education and researches with attempts to bloom the maritime industry in Taiwan. Under this initiative, ocean exploitation,the professional seafarer training programmes with their contexts been upgraded along with the development of maritime technology are essential; accordingly, the Seafarer Training Center in NKMU is therefore established.








	In behalf of meeting the requirements of the SOLAS Regulations and STCW Convention,the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) in Taiwan cooperated with NKMU to begin the intensive courses for seafarers training since September 1980.
